Conversational conferences

Our work often involves bringing together dozens or hundreds of people in Whole System Events (Large Group Interventions).  These differ from traditional conferences in that they are working meetings that draw on the wisdom of the participants, who are invited individually for the contribution that they will make.

At times there is a different need - for a conference that combines elements of traditional conferences and Whole System Events.  A conference that provides an opportunity for participants to hear speakers who have been carefully briefed, as well as time to reflect and process the implications for them of the presentations - through small group and large group dialogue.

To meet this need we have designed Conversational Conferences.  We have used this approach in a variety of settings including the meetings of a national clinical network, the annual conference of a national NHS organisation, the annual conference of the Health Complexity Group and a conference for sharing good local practice.
